Yes, But


According to Rob Kendall, a conversation expert, the phrase “Yes, but” is one of the warning signs that you’re in a “lose-lose situation”. 

“If you hear it three or more times in one discussion, it’s a sign that you’re going nowhere.”

It is what he calls “blamestorming” (No, it is you the one who is wrong).

So the best way to step out of such a ”no-win situation” is to look at solution-focused outcomes: instead of saying “yes, but” we should ask: what we can do? what’s missing here?
